Presentation of the “China Perception Index in Kazakhstan in 2024”

In 2020, the TALAP Center launched the study "Analysis of China's Economic Strategy and Foreign Policy in Kazakhstan". A separate strand of the research was the China Perception Index in Kazakhstan, built on a broad sociological survey of the population.

In November 2024, the TALAP Center completed the fourth wave of the study, based on an original methodology that includes the analysis of 32 variables and the calculation of 4 key indicators: the general perception, geopolitical power, economic power and cultural influence of China.

The presentation will cover the following topics:

  • Global trends in the perception of China: an overview of public opinion polls, international soft power ratings and multifactor expert assessments.
  • Specifics of the perception of China in Central Asia and Kazakhstan: analysis of data from Gallup, the Central Asia Barometer and many other sources.
  • Dynamics of public opinion in Kazakhstan since 2020: key changes in recent years (based on the TALAP Center's methodology).
  • Public opinion on international projects in Kazakhstan, including Chinese initiatives and expectations regarding nuclear power plant contractors.
  • The perception matrix of international brands in Kazakhstan: a study of the awareness and evaluation of companies from different countries.

The presentation will be held online via Zoom. A broadcast will also be available on the TALAP YouTube channel.
