The aim of the research is to calculate the perception index of China in Kazakhstan in 2023, analyze its dynamics since 2020, and identify the shaping factors based on public opinion surveys.
The report includes the following sections:
- Indicators of Chinese presence in the personal information space of Kazakhstanis: their level of engagement with the studied topic, sources of information about it, and the main types of its consumption.
- Methodological description of the calculation of four indicators and a detailed analysis of the variables on which they are based. Additionally, data from other studies are used to fully explore the topic.
- Analysis of the dynamics of indicators in 2020 — 2023. Including an analysis of structural dynamics, allowing us to understand which specific variables led to changes in each indicator. Calculation of the overall perception index and analysis of the nature and reasons for its changes.
- Factor analysis based on the study of contingency tables. The influence of key socio-demographic variables on public opinion has been examined. Numerous maps have been created to show territorial differences in responses.
- Description of China's place on the foreign policy map of Kazakhstanis, based on the results of mathematical analysis, allowing conclusions to be drawn about the reasons for trends in its perception in Kazakhstan and potential opportunities.
- Conclusions based on the research findings, including forecasts for the prospects of index changes and associated risks.
