In early September, the President of Kazakhstan will once again address the population with his annual message. In anticipation of this event, I decided to talk to well-known economists about their expectations regarding the main political statement in the country. The Kazakh economy is in deep crisis: the budget deficit is only growing, as are the transfers from the National Fund, while indicators such as attracting investment in capital and the real well-being of citizens are only declining. In this regard, independent economist Aydarkhan Kusaynov believes that the current economic model has exhausted itself and is inevitably heading for collapse. To stabilize the situation, the tenge needs to be devalued to as much as 1000 tenge per dollar. Other experts, including Pyotr Svoik and Askar Kysykov, agree that the current rules are not working. In this video, we discussed with colleagues our forecasts and expectations from Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's message to the people of Kazakhstan, the further development of events surrounding the Kazakh economy, and possible options for exiting the crisis. Additionally, I asked the experts to provide practical advice to Kazakhstani citizens on managing their assets and how to survive difficult times. I hope everyone will find something useful!
